Ringing in 2014!

As I sit here waiting to watch the "ball drop" and 2014 to start. I also wait for the phone to ring so that I can pick up my son and his friends after a night of celebrating. I wonder what will 2014 bring to my family, myself and my business. I hope that it will be prosperous with many new formed relationships, laughs  and good health for all.
Have a happy and safe 2014 everyone!

Small School - Big Family

Part of running a successful business is giving back to the community I live in. I am always happy to donate to the Clyde F. Brown Home and School Association Auction that they organize every two years.  The Lauria family were the lucky recipients this year. I was able to spend some time with the family  a few weeks ago and here are some of the pictures.

Family pictures with a adorable little guy, a really big dog and a surprise!

I love surprises....especially these special moments!!! This little guy and his dog are the best of buddies, laying and watching TV together and always being one step behind him to make sure he is safe in his exploring. Animals are such a big part of my life and I love to see the same in other peoples lives. It was a given that family pictures would include her. I was so happy to add these pictures to my portfolio, thanks Anne for the opportunity.

Senior pictures with Abby in West Yarmouth, Ma.

Who doesn't love Cape Cod? I had a great time a few weeks ago taking Abby's senior pictures in a spot that is really important to both of us. We spent the time in West Yarmouth. It is such a beautiful spot in so many ways. As you can tell, Abby was very relaxed in front of the camera and we had lots of fun!

Who doesn't love bubbles!!

Recently, I spent a morning with two adorable little girls who loved bubbles! Luckily for me, I had my two assistants with me who helped me with the bubble blowing and the task of keeping them attentive.

Erin and her family

What a beautiful spot we had for Erin and her family pictures. A mere 99 acres of green rolling grass for as far as the eye could see. We could have spent all day finding new locations within this beautiful location.

Fight for Taylor Night

I had the opportunity to to give back to a local teen in our town of Millis who was involved in a tragic skiing accident in February that left him paralyzed from the waist down. This was a boxing fundraiser for the family. I was happy to be a part of it and was thrilled with the amount of people there to support the family. Even though I had never been to a boxing match or even photographed one before, I wanted to give back in some way.
Our schools AD was the MC of the event and our Middle School Principal was one of the boxers as well as another former student closed out the event. It was another example of our schools motto- "Small School Big Family"

The Shark Tank

I was thrilled to be able to work with  Blue Blinds Media this month  on an event to promote the sale of a 9 million dollar home in Wellesley, Ma. The event included 100 plus local realitors as well as Barbara Corcoran from the The Shark Tank series. Who would have thought that Barbara would have started her empire on $1000.00! She shared her story  and reminded  the guests that you shouldn't let anyone get in your way of a dream! Stand up for what you believe in.

Family pictures at a library?

Who would think that a library would make such a great spot to take family pictures. It was a beautiful backdrop for the pictures of Jen and her family. Remember, when you are looking for a place to take pictures, think of your local areas first. The best locations may be closer than you think.

Celebrating 50 years of marriage

In January, I had the pleasure of being part of a 50th wedding anniversary celebration! My presence there capturing the surprise was also a surprise to the guest of honors. The festivities  included a hired chef and plated meal for all the guests as well as family portraits. Reaching 50 years of marriage is a huge accomplishment especially in today's times. Congratulations to the Dunbar family!

Snow Day!!!

I'm like most people and have had enough with the snow this season and am looking forward to seeing colors other than white soon. Before we forget all of the snow we did get, I went out to take some sledding shots with my family during the last "snow day". Lucky for me, my sister has a garage and four wheel drive and was able to come pick me up, as I was "snowed in" and off to the hill we went. It was a beautiful time to be sledding, snow falling quietly  and kids squealing around me.

Welcome!

Hi, my name is Eileen Nelson and I am the owner of Eileen Nelson Photography

For those of you who don't know me, I am a lifestyle photographer who specializes in natural light, simply meaning the outdoors is my studio. I am a small business owner, a mom and a registered nurse.  I love to laugh and smile a lot and I find it challenging to get my clients to do the same! Like many photographers, I too wanted to start a blog to reach out to many of my friends and clients in a more personal way. These days many people have cameras and can take pictures, although not every picture represents a photograph.  “There is a vast difference between taking a picture and making a photograph.” – Robert Heinecken.

Many photographers have developed their own plan to blog and mine is to start by blogging details about each of my client’s experiences and provide a sneak preview of each event. (Maybe I will surprise myself and be able to blog more often). Feel free to subscribe to my updates and follow me on Facebook and Twitter.

I encourage comments, feedback and visitor interaction that will be beneficial and helpful to me growing my blog and business. I politely ask that people refrain from comments that are disrespectful in any manner, as people off all ages will be reading my blog, including my children.

Here are a few examples of my work.
